Reckless Indifference: What administrators should know and do about Sexual Harassment

Workshops for School Administrators and other personnel

California's legislature passed AB 1825 which requires sexual harassment training for school (as well as other business') supervisors. The instruction, via "classroom or other effective interactive training," must include the following topics:

  • Information and practical guidance regarding the federal and state statutory provisions concerning the prohibition against and the prevention of sexual harassment;
  • Information about the correction of sexual harassment and the remedies available to victims of sexual harassment in employment; and
  • Practical examples aimed at instructing supervisors in the prevention of harassment, discrimination and retaliation.

The legal literature has been involved in a mild debate about the extent of the "other effective interactive training," but it cannot be doubted that effective communication and skillful teaching is a must to provide this needed curriculum. Rich Kitchens is a master teacher and can help provide your school with the kind of support it needs to meet the spirit and the letter of AB 1825.
